Marion “Jean” Ernenwein, age 93, of Rome, passed away peacefully December 16, 2013, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Facility, with her loving family at her side.
She was born July 16, 1920, in Moria, NY, a daughter of the late Michael J. Gary and Barbara N. Sullivan Larkin, and educated at St. Aloysius Academy. Jean was united in marriage to William J. Ernenwein on November 1, 1944, at St. Peter’s Church, by Rev. Burke. It was a blessed marriage of 43 years until Bill’s passing on October 13, 1987.
Jean worked for J. Beers Estate and Fish Rock Camp in Tupper Lake, and later worked at Rome Manufacturing during WW II. She was a member of St. Mary’s/St. Peter’s Church, and the Altar Rosary Society.
She is survived by her daughter, Julia (Judy) Ernenwein of Rome; a brother and sister in law, Thomas B. and Natalie Larkin; and several nieces and nephews, especially Bill and Bonnie West of Taberg. She was predeceased by a sister, Helen West, and three brothers, Maurice R. Gary, Vernal M. (Red) Gary and Terrance Larkin.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:45 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday 4 to 7 PM.
