Obituary for Harold R. Ashline

Harold R. Ashline
Harold R. Ashline, 86, retired USAF CMSGT, of Rome, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2017, after a brief battle with lung cancer with his loving family at his side.

He was born February 1, 1931, in Lebanon, NH, a son of the late Edward L. and Gladys Laforce Ashline, and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in St. Albans, VT. Harold was united in marriage to Dolores Lacoste on January 3, 1953 in St. Albans, VT, a blessed marriage of 64 years. He proudly served in the USAF for 30 years and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Lee Center.

Harold and his family traveled the world during his career in the Air Force. He later enjoyed traveling with his wife in their RV for over 27 years. He was an avid fan of sports and cheered for any team that would beat the Yankees.

Harold is survived by his wife, Dolores; four daughters and one son, Marie Ashline of Rome, Kathleen and John Toomey of Tryon, NC, Michael and Lauren Ashline of Blissfield, MI, Gloria and Joseph Talerico of Rome and Susan and Don Maziarz of Schuyler; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Edward Ashline of Ft. Myers, FL, and Dwynne and Rita Ashline of Goose Creek, SC; four grandchildren, Carre, Nicole, Eric and Montanna; and three great grandchildren, Alyssa, Matthew and Lucas, and soon to be born great granddaughter. He was predeceased by a sister, Theresa Tatro and three brothers, Cleon, Bobby and Donald.

Special thank you to Dr. Garcia and his staff at Rome Hospital ER and Dr. Seth and the entire staff of 10E Oncology at SUNY Upstate Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Rome, NY and a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Robert L. Kelly, at St. Joseph’s Church in Lee Center at 11:00 AM. Burial with full Military Honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
