Obituary for Arthur G. Totaro

Arthur G. Totaro
Arthur G. Totaro, age 91, of Rome, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

Arthur was born in Rome on April 5, 1926 to the late Nicholas and Josephine Boccassi Totaro. He graduated from Rome Free Academy and afterwards enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as military police during World War II. He was united in marriage to the former Grace Bilotta on April 29, 1948; a blessed union of 65 years until her passing on March 13, 2013.

Arthur was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family was his world and he enjoyed cooking for them.

Arthur is survived by his loving daughters, Jo-Marie and Cathi-Anne; grandchildren, Kristi, Steven and Allison; great granddaughters, Adrianna, Gianna, Giulianna, and Emily; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a great granddaughter Giavanna Grace; and four brothers, James, Joseph, Robert, and Mario Totaro.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mary, Savannah, and Taylor from the Special Care Unit at St. Elizabeth’s, and his caregiver, Ann Dunn, for their care and compassion shown to Arthur during his illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10 AM at St. Paul’s Church with the Rev. Robert L. Kelly officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, on Saturday from 6 to 8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care (Siegenthaler Center) 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, New York 13413.
