Obituary for Berneice Ann Pohl (Baker)

Berneice Ann Pohl, 85, of Lee Center, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at home with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Utica, NY on August 14, 1931, the daughter of Kenneth and Irene Baker. She graduated from Utica Free Academy in 1949.

On August 18, 1951 she married Myron D. Pohl. They lived and worked happily together for almost 40 years on their dairy farm on Stokes Hill. She worked on the election polls for Oneida County for numerous years. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and crocheting. She participated in craft shows for many years. However, her greatest joy was spending time with and taking care of her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her beloved family, daughter-in-law Gene S. Pohl of Arlington, VA; son Alan and Ann Pohl of Lee Center; daughters Susan and John Ryder of Ava, Karen and John Mueller of Cordova, TN, Debra and Michael Bartlett, and Judy and Robert Tallarino both of Lee Center; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother Lawrence J. Baker of Hamilton; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a very special friend Leslie Tuthill of Oneida.

She was predeceased by her husband, Myron; her son David L. Pohl; her parents and sister-in-law Marilyn Baker.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 12 to 2 PM prior to the service.
