Obituary for James E. "Jay" Marchesani

James “Jay” E. Marchesani, age 49 of Rome, passed away on November 9, 2017, after a long battle with Juvenile Diabetes.

Born on April 27, 1968, in Rome, Jay is the son of Richard and Joyce Harding Marchesani. He graduated from Rome Free Academy and attended MVCC. Jay worked at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Griffiss AFB since he was 16 years old until retiring due to his ill health.

Jay was an avid music lover who's creativity never ceased to amaze anyone. Playing the guitar and singing were his passions and they came to life through his band Amber Warning. A friend to everyone, Jay was always the life of the party. His sarcasm and witty remarks kept everyone on their toes. Jay is loved and will truly be missed by many.

Jay is survived by his two children, Gabriella Rae Marchesani and James Anthony Marchesani, both of Rome; his father, Richard and stepmother, Laurie Marchesani of Elmira; two sisters and a brother in law, Dina and Gary Heintz of Whitesboro, and Nicole (Emmanuel)Marchesani of Rome; two brothers and sisters in law, Rick and Colette Marchesani of Denver, CO, and Justin and Sarah Marchesani of Syracuse; his aunt, Barbara Marchesani of Rome; and his former wife, Rachel Gubbins, her husband Kevin Gubbins and their two children Alina and Emily Gubbins, of Rome; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Joyce and grandparents, Connie and Gabriel Marchesani.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 5:00 PM at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday 3 to 5 PM, prior to the funeral service.
