Terry R. Wiggins, age 69, of the Town of German Flatts, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2018, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Terry was born in Bridgewater, NY on June 7, 1948 to Roger and Dorothy Evans Wiggins, and graduated from Mohawk High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On July 30, 1983, he was united in marriage to the former Catherine DeLong. Terry worked as a machinist at Remington Arms.
Terry enjoyed driving his tractor, hunting, landscaping, gardening and attending the local sports games. Terry always gave a helping hand to anyone in need and never expected anything in return. Above all, he always enjoyed the time he spent with his family. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family, especially his granddaughter, Maddi.
Terry is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Cathy; his mother, Dorothy; two daughters and a son in law, Kortney DeLong, and Calli and Ethan Riesel, all of Mohawk; a son, Chad Wiggins of Fort Bragg, NC; two grandchildren, Madilynn and Oliver; three sisters, Janice Brunette and her partner Donald, Gail James, and Patricia Overacker; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Roger and his sister, Katie.
The family is grateful for the wonderful care Terry received at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare. A special thank you to the oncology unit, Dr. Sikder, Nurse Practitioner/niece, Debra Iselo, and Nicholas Iselo, for everything they did for the family throughout this hard time.
A private graveside service will be held in the spring, at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Rome.
