Shirley W. Griffin, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 10, 2018.
Shirley was born on February 10, 1927 in Rome to the late Ralph and Victoria Williams. She graduated from VVS high school and went on to become a hair dresser. In the fall of 1946, she met William Griffin. They were wed on August 16, 1947 and enjoyed over 70 years of marriage together.
Shirley worked at Varflex Corporation for many years and volunteered at Rome Hospital and Parrish Medical Center in Titusville, FL. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Rome, the National Rifle Association, and a former member of McConnellsville Golf Club. She was an excellent marksman, had a love of flowers, and had a special place in her heart for her two schnauzers, Sarah and Sam.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her husband, William; brothers, Ralph (Barbara) Williams of Verona, and Warren (Gail) Williams of Rome; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her many dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 21, at 10 AM at St. Paul’s Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, on Friday, April 20 from 4:30 to 7 PM.
