Marilyn A. Baker, age 81, of the Town of Lee, passed away peacefully on her 81st birthday, May 19, 2018, with her loving family at her side.
She was born May 19, 1937, in Rome, a daughter of Vivian Renwick and Ernest Megerell. She grew up on the Megerell dairy farm in Lee. Marilyn was united in marriage to Fred (Fritz) Baker on June 4, 1955, at St. Patrick’s Church in Taberg. She and her husband Fritz wintered in St. Cloud, Florida.
Marilyn was a homemaker and wife and would be the sitter for nieces, nephews and neighbors. She loved to plant flowers, do puzzles and take weekly rides in the family 1930 Model A.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 62 years, Fred (Fritz) Baker; a son, Fred Baker and fiancée, Charlene Essex of St. Cloud, FL; a daughter and son in law, Brenda and Edward Little of Lee; grandchildren, Stephanie, Cory and Amy; great grandchildren, Cody, Ashley, Kyle, Cayden, Dru and Myla; three sisters and a brother in law, Charleen and Bill Baker, Myrtle Witchley and Donna Reed; two brothers and a sister in law, Clyde and Priscilla Megerell, and Joseph Megerell and Linda Peters; and a special family friend, Pat Daniello. She was predeceased by a sister, Tina Reed and a grandson Nick Baker.
The family wishes to sincerely thank Rome Memorial Hospital 2 East nurses and staff, and Colonial Park Rehab and Nursing Center nurses and staff for all the care and compassion extended to Marilyn.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Francis Wapen, will be held Wednesday at 10:30 AM, at St. Patrick’s Church in Taberg. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery
