Obituary for Hazel L. Palmiero (Little)

Hazel L. Palmiero (Little)
Hazel L. Palmiero, age 97, of Rome, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2018 at the Presbyterian Home.

Hazel was born in Lebanon, NH on March 31, 1921 to the late Francis M. and Celia B. Humiston Little. She was formerly married to the late Ralph Sanborn, with whom they had two sons, and on April 26, 1961, she was united in marriage to Louis Palmiero; a union of seven years until his passing in 1968. Hazel worked at Griffiss AFB as a procurement supervisor, and after retirement, she worked at Ringdahl’s Florist.

Hazel enjoyed gardening and loved animals of all sorts. She was a garage sale expert and could always find a deal. She also loved her camp on 4th Lake that the family had from 1960-1990.
Hazel is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Reginald and Shirley Sanborn of Oneida, and Gene and Patricia Sanborn of Rome; six grandchildren, Jill, Chris, Mike, Michelle, Kristin, and Amy; four great-grandchildren, Christopher, Mick, Geno, and Theresa; three great-great-grandchildren, Giana, Mateo, and Jason; and several nieces and nephews, including her special nephews, Bob Little and Powsie Williams. She was predeceased by her siblings, Pearl, Phyllis, Velma, Edna, Glen, Kenneth, and Allyn.

The family would like to thank the Presbyterian Home and the Terrace at Woodland for their care and compassion expressed to Hazel during her time there.

Hazel’s funeral will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Rome.
