Doris M. ”Bunnie” Nelson, age 88, of Rome passed away peacefully on July 7, 2018.
She was born January 12, 1930, in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, a daughter of Anthony and Agnes “Sue” Ricciardelli Steffer. Doris was formerly married to Richard Nelson.
Bunnie is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Laura Sue and Thomas Dekker of Colgate, WI, and Nancy Louise and Anthony Freddoso of Ilion; a son, Richard Alan Nelson of Rome; grandchildren, Bethany and Mike Pandolfo, Joshua and Sharon Freddoso, Jake and Zachary Dekker, and Amber Munio; great grandchildren, Jake and Ryan Pandolfo; special friends whom she regarded as her own children, Rose Craine and Michael Formikell; her former husband, Richard Nelson; her beloved brothers, Robert and Richard Steffer; her beloved sisters, Annie Boynton and Patsy Craig; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Gregory Theodore Charles Nelson III, and a grandson, Trevor Anthony Munio.
Bunnie touched the life of every person she met with her exuberant fiesty spirit and her compassionate love. She is truly unforgettable.
