Obituary for Nicola Angelicola

Nicola Angelicola
Nicola Angelicola, 92, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Celenza Valfortore, Italy and married the love of his life, Pasqualina (Lillian) Galari, on October 30, 1950; a blessed union of nearly 66 years until her passing on September 21, 2016. They fulfilled their dream of immigrating to the United States in 1955 to provide their family with the opportunities available in America.

Nicola was a devoted family man and his family meant the world to him. He worked tirelessly to provide for them. Before coming to America he worked in metal foundries and as a coal miner. After arriving in the US, he worked for 30 years, as an electrician at Rome Strip Steel.

Nicola is survived by his three sons and daughters in law, Leo and Rozanne Angelicola of Rome, Riccardo and Joan Angelicola of Greensboro, NC, and Roberto and Lynne Angelicola of Rome; a daughter and son in law, Rita and Ernie Cavalier of New Hartford; his treasured grandchildren Tricia Sherman, Michele Lance, Salvatore Cavalier, Bianca Bower, Marina Angelicola–Richardson, Nicolas Angelicola, Meryl Lee, Nicola (Ricky) Angelicola and Michael Angelicola and was blessed with 13 great grandchildren who provided him with endless joy. Nick was predeceased by a brother, Luigi. He is survived by three sisters, Louisa, Lena, and Maria all of Italy and a brother Antonio of New Jersey.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Nicola’s caregiver, Geraldine Pasqualetti and who treated him like a treasured family member.

A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio, will be held on Friday, August 10 at 11 AM at the Church of Saint John the Baptist in Rome. Interment will be at Saint John the Baptist Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 West Chestnut Street, Rome, on Thursday from 5 to 8:30 PM.
