Obituary for Robert Naymick

Robert “Bob” Naymick, age 86, of Verona, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2018 at the Grand at Rome.

Bob was born in Friedens, PA on May 12, 1932 to the late Andrew Sr. and Josephine Rollinger Naymick, and was educated in the Somerset Township Schools. On May 12, 1956, he was united in marriage to the former Noreen P. Clark; a blessed union of nearly 59 years until her passing on April 5, 2015. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Bob retired as a store clerk from the Rome State School.

Bob enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish, and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a life member of the Westmoreland and Lowell Fire Departments, a member of the Sherrill American Legion and the RDC Co-ed Bowling League, a Past President of the Oneida County Fire-Police, and a member of the New York State Volunteer Fire Police Association.

Bob is survived by a daughter, Melody Carletta of Verona; a son, Paul Naymick, of Verona; grandchildren, Justin (Kristin) Naymick, and Christopher and Adam Carletta; a sister, Elizabeth (Robert) Ogline of Somerset, PA; his sisters in law, Joann Naymick and Patricia Clark; several nieces and nephews; his former daughter in law, Lezlie Naymick; and a former son in law, Rosario Carletta. He was predeceased by a grandson, Marco Carletta; a sister, Dorothy Lowe; and brothers, Andrew “Snip” Jr., Harry, and John Naymick, Sr.

The family would like to thank the staff on Wing 3 at the Grand, the staff on the 4th Floor at Oneida Healthcare, the Verona Fire Department, and Vineall Ambulance for their care and compassion expressed to Bob and the family.

Bob’s funeral with military honors will be held on Monday at 7 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be Tuesday at 11 AM in Lowell Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 PM prior to the funeral.
