Betty J. McGhie Sykes Riggleman, age 94, of Blairsville, GA and formerly of Rome, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2018 at the Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville, GA.

Betty was born in Seneca castle, NY on July 16, 1924 to the late Henry and Ruth Thomas McGhie. She graduated from Canton, N.Y. High School. She was united in marriage to Radford J. Rigglerman on Sept. 21, 1947; a blessed union of 51 years until his passing on February 26, 1999. Betty worked at Victory Markets in Rome until she retired.

Betty was an avid bowler and was inducted into the International Bowling Hall of Fame in 2007. She was also a former member of the Moose Lodge. She loved to cook and bake, and enjoyed being with family.

Betty is survived by her son, Guy(May) Sykes of Murphy, NC; grandchildren, Theresa and Radford (Kelly) Sykes, Carrie Bryon, Sandra and Patrick Finley, Betty Daniels, and Robert Schlosser; two special great grandchildren, Nicole Brittany Greene and Amber Cantrell Sykes, and 14 other great grandchildren, 19 great, great grandchildren: and a brother Ronald (Eileen) McGhie of Loveland, CO. She was predeceased by a daughter, Julia G. Sykes Finley Schlosser Lynch in July 2016, and a sister Peggy McGhie Avery.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 12 Noon at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30 to 12 prior to the funeral.
