Rosemarie B. Nasci, age 88, of Rome, passed away peacefully, January 3, 2013, at Rome Memorial Hospital, with her loving family at her side.
She was born April 12, 1924, in Rome, a daughter of Sam and Rose Stevens Barber. She was educated in the Rome School District. On August 22, 1946, she married Joseph A. Nasci. He passed away on January 29, 1959. Rosemarie worked as a dietary aid at the former Rose Hospital and later at the Oneida City Hospital, where she retired in 1988.
She enjoyed the outdoors and hiked many of the mountains in the Adirondacks. She also enjoyed spending time at Lake Eaton with a special friend, Edward Cimo. Rosemarie liked to travel as well as doing puzzles and cooking and baking. She loved spending time with her great grandchildren, Daniel Wyatt and Piper. She was a member of the Church of St. John the Baptist.
Surviving are two daughters and a son in law, Sharon Nasci and William James of Las Vegas, NV, and Darlene and Daniel Clements of Westmoreland; two sons and a daughter in law, Joseph S. and Beverly Nasci of Rome, and Paul Nasci of Rome; two sisters, Delores Barber of Rome, and Joan Massoud of Utica; a brother, Thomas Barber of Rome; grandchildren, Renee and David Gilmore, Joseph A. and Elizabeth Nasci, Deanna Clements, and Daniel and Alexis Clements, six great grandchildren, a brother in law, Salvatore “Sam” and Patricia Nasci of FL; two sisters in law, Shirley Nasci of Rome and Josephine Finger of WI; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Jake. She was predeceased by a brother Joseph Barber and a sister in law Mary Ann Barber, and two brothers in law, Guy Nasci and Kenneth Finger.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Church of St. John the Baptist. There will be no calling hours.
