Mary F. Krenitsky, Age 94, of Rome, passed away peacefully, May 12, 2017 at home with her loving family at her side.
Mary was born April 15, 1923 in Rome, NY, the daughter of the late Frances (Muszynski) Prozny and John Prozny and graduated from the Saint Aloysius Academy in Rome, NY. Mary was united in marriage to the late George T. Krenitsky (1914 – 2010) on September 4, 1950 in the Transfiguration of Our Lord Church. She worked as a beautician at family-owned, Mickey’s Beauty Salon and later as a Teacher’s Assistant in the Rome Public School District at Gansevoort elementary school where she helped students in mathematics and reading. After her retirement, she worked as a secretary at Holy Trinity Church in Utica, NY where her late brother, Rev. Leopold Prozny (1917 – 2001) was pastor from 1975 to 1992. At various points in time she also served as an officer and director of the Polish Roman Catholic of America.
At Transfiguration Church Mary was a member of the Alter Rosary Society, Mother’s Club, and the St. Cecelia Choir. She was strong in her faith and in maintaining her Polish heritage and traditions. Mary also enjoyed golfing, gardening and traveling. She delighted in her family and will always be remembered as a fun-loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Mary is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Lee and Stephen Perrone of Sylvan Beach, Kathy Ann and Stephen Cerny of Endicott, Jane F. Krenitsky of Manhattan, two sons and daughters in law, Joseph G. and Shufen Krenitsky of Buffalo and John C. and Anne Krenitsky of Highland Park, IL; one sister, Stephanie Carmody of Bedford Street, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of sixty years, George Krenitsky, her son, Paul Thomas Krenitsky, two sisters, Michaeline Czajkowski and Helen Geary and two brothers, Stanley Prozny and Rev. Leopold Prozny.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:15 From Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio, at 11:00 AM at the Transfiguration of Our Lord Church. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
