George “Al” A. Urban, age 75, of Rome, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2017, with his loving family at his side.
He was born August 5, 1941, in Wayne, Michigan, a son of the late Chester and Fern Mae Stephens Urban. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Dearborn, MI. Al was united in marriage to the former Patricia A. Corradino on November 12, 1966, at the Church of St. John the Baptist. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1959-63. He also worked at ConMed and for the Department of Defense at Griffiss Air Force Base and Fort Drum. He was a member of the Henry P. Smith Post #24, American Legion and the Rome Elks Lodge.
Al is survived by his wife, Patricia; a daughter and son in law, Crystal and Brad Tangorra of Phoenix, NY; two sisters and brothers in law, Sue and Joe Riggs, and Terry and Tim Garten, all of Michigan; a brother, Walter Urban of Michigan; and grandchildren, Jacob, Ella and Celia Tangorra. He was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey in 1995.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 3:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 West Chestnut Street. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Friday, from 12 Noon to 3 PM, prior to the funeral service.
