Robert K. Meyers, age 73, of the Town of Western, passed away on February 28, 2018 at Rome Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Robert was born in Rome on June 21, 1944, to the late Enoch and Agnes Urtz Meyers, and graduated from West Leyden High School. On January 28, 1967, at St. Patrick’s Church in Taberg, he was united in marriage to Carol Willson; a loving union of 46 years until her passing on April 24, 2013. Robert retired after 45 years from Revere Copper and Brass where he worked as a machine operator.
Robert was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish, golf and work in his garden. He was a member of the Lee Legion Sons of the American Legion where he enjoyed spending time with all of his legion friends.
Robert is survived by a daughter and son in law, Lori and Bill Flint of Western; a son and daughter in law, Daniel and Lisa Meyers of Lee Center; four grandchildren that he adored, Kelsey Flint, Jordan Hadsell, and Danielle and Matthew Meyers; two sisters and a brother in law, Patricia Turner of Lee Center, and Kathleen and James Lindsay of Albany; two brothers, Paul Meyers of Schenectady, and Tom Meyers of Lee Center, three sisters in law Agnes, Marlene and Maxine Meyers and sisters and brothers in law, Leona and Dale Scott, and Joseph and Peggy Willson. He was predeceased by a sister, Carol Sellman; and six brothers, Donald, James, Allan, Arnold, Charles, and Bernard Meyers and two sisters in law, Amelia and Jane Meyers.
The family would like to especially thank all the staff on 3 North at Rome Hospital for their care and compassion shown to Robert.
A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Rev. Robert L. Kelly, will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM, at St. Joseph’s Church. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in the spring.
Relatives and friends may call at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM.
